There is something so special about traditions, and one of my favorite traditions each year is photographing Jessie and her children. What started as a simple Mommy and Me session has grown into an annual photo experience I look forward to every season. This year, I was lucky enough to spend time with Jessie and her three beautiful kids, Coraline, Hope, and Waylon.

Mommy and Me sessions are some of the most meaningful photo sessions I get to do as a Salmon Idaho family photographer. They are a chance for moms to step out from behind the camera and be truly present with their children. Instead of worrying about capturing the perfect shot themselves, moms get to laugh, play, and cuddle while I freeze those memories for them. These sessions show the bond between a mother and her kids in such an authentic way, and Jessie always embraces that.

Jessie is wonderful about living in the moment. She never stresses over whether her kids are smiling at the same time or whether every hair is perfectly in place. Instead, she focuses on enjoying her children, and the photos always reflect that joy. The candid moments we capture together are full of laughter, connection, and love. Every year I see their bond grow deeper, and it is such a privilege to document these memories.

Hope is a true star in front of the camera. She knows how to strike a pose and tilt her head just right, and she keeps me laughing with her silly faces and playful personality. She has this confidence and sparkle that shines in every photo, and she makes each session so much fun.

Coraline has stepped into her role as the sweet big sister so beautifully. She is gentle, caring, and thoughtful, and you can see how much she adores her siblings. Watching her grow year after year and capturing her love for her brother and sister is one of the best parts of these sessions.

And then there is Waylon, the newest addition to the tradition. It is always exciting when a family grows, and including him this year made the session even more special. He is full of energy and curiosity, and he brings a whole new layer of fun to these family photos.

Mommy and Me sessions are truly timeless because children grow and change so quickly. A yearly photo tradition like Jessie’s means you can look back and see not only how much your children have grown but also how your relationship with them has blossomed. These are the kinds of keepsakes that become treasures for generations to come.

Every year with Jessie and her kids is a reminder of why I love being a family photographer in Salmon Idaho. It is not just about taking photos, it is about capturing love, joy, and connection in a way that lasts forever.
