What to After Your Get Engaged from an Idaho Wedding Photographer
Congratulations, you are engaged!

Now that you are engaged, you are going to be bombarded with questions like, "when is the wedding," or "am I invited?" You will probably hear unsolicited advice from your grandma but a lot of these decisions will probably be easy. Let's be honest, you've probably had your maid of honor picked out since seventh grade. There will be hard decisions but the most important thing to do is to enjoy this time together.
Here are 10 things to do now that you are engaged from an Idaho Wedding Photographer
1. Schedule alone time together. Like I said the most important thing is that you two are enjoying this time together. And who doesn't want to spend some extra time with their honey? Schedule some time together to just enjoy one another's company.
2. Share the exciting news. Make sure you both are ready to answer a ton of questions but be also ready to be overwhelmed with love and excitement from a lot of different people. And sometimes people just turn weird when you get engaged.
3. Schedule a wedding planning date night. This won't be as "fun" as your date night but really important. Brainstorm your thoughts and ideas. This is just a great way to share with each other what you BOTH want before you get down to the nitty gritty of wedding planning. No decisions have to be made that night and just start with the basics. Where do you want to get married at? What time of year? How big do you want the wedding to be? And expand on those ideas to colors, venues, etc.
4. Create a wedding budget. Do not let this part be stressful. Start by figuring out where to save and where to splurge. Be realistic about your wedding budget when it comes to food and vendors.
5. Stay Organized. Grab a wedding planning book and stay on top of it. Keep it all in once place whether that is communication with vendors, budget and ideas. This will be super helpful in the process.
6. Talk to wedding venues. Pick out several different venues and ask for a private showing. This will help when comparing the size of the space, extras added and overall prices. Go in with a general time frame in mind when visiting to know how long you will be reserving the space whether it be a whole day of maybe even more than that for decorating and/or cleaning up.
If you are getting married in Salmon, Idaho I put together a wedding planning guide and it includes my favorite wedding venues in the area. I love Sweet Water Hollow and Twin Peaks Guest Ranch - you will find the perfect spot here in Salmon.
7. Lock down the date. Start really locking down the date. This will help when communicating with vendors. Depending on the timeframe of when you are getting married, some vendors may already be booked. The farther out the most likely they will be available. Your visions will start to become a reality once you choose your date. And of course you will modify this 100 times over.
8. Pick your wedding party. You and your fiance will decide on how big you want your wedding party. You want to make sure both of you are okay with who will be in the wedding party. Once you choose your bridal party you can put together a fun bridesmaid proposal box - and if not that's okay too.
9. Order a Bride to Be box. Treat yourself with fun bride-to-be swag. You can sign up for free bridal magazine trials, websites and more.
10. Schedule engagement photos. Research and interviews a few wedding photographers before committing and signing any contracts. Some wedding photographers will include engagement photos in a wedding package.
Once you have done your engagement photos, set your date and narrowed down your guest list - it's time to think about Save the Dates and wedding invitations. I am a partner with Basic Invite and I broke down WHEN TO SEND WEDDING INVITES.
