Meet Porter and RaeAnne!

These two are getting married right here in Salmon, Idaho at Sweet Water Hollow next year, and I cannot wait to photograph their wedding day. They made the trip to Salmon for their engagement session, and it was my very first time meeting them. As an Idaho Photographer, one of my favorite things is getting to meet couples like this who are planning a destination wedding in our little corner of the world.

Why Salmon? Because it’s gorgeous, simple as that. Believe it or not, Salmon is often a perfect middle point for couples traveling from all over East Idaho and beyond. The mountain views, wide open spaces, and that small-town charm make it an incredible spot for engagement photos or an entire wedding weekend.

For RaeAnne and Porter’s session, we were greeted with a stormy, rainy day, but that didn’t scare them one bit. In fact, the moody skies gave us the most amazing backdrop. I had them do all sorts of silly prompts to get them laughing (because the best smiles come when you’re having fun). We bounced around locations, dodged a few raindrops, and captured some seriously beautiful moments together.

We utilized the Sacajawea Center, which is one of my absolute favorite spots as an East Idaho Photographer. The sweeping mountain range views and wide-open fields are perfect for a romantic engagement session. Even with the gray skies, the mountains peeked through and gave us that classic Salmon Idaho engagement vibe, rugged, wild, and completely stunning.

Porter and RaeAnne even decided to stay the night in Salmon and make a little date night out of their trip. I love when couples do this because it turns your engagement session into more than just photos, it’s a memory, an adventure, and a little getaway before the wedding day chaos begins.
