Another Year with the Stone Family

Some traditions are worth holding onto and photographing the Stone family every year is one of my favorites.

Jeremy and Chelsea have been in front of my camera since 2014, when Chelsea and I worked together at the local newspaper. What started as a simple family session has turned into an annual tradition we all look forward to. I’ve watched Rylee, Kyla, and now Hunter grow up year after year, from shy smiles and giggles to full-on confidence and personality.

Hunter, especially, has become a total pro in front of the camera. He’s what I like to call a “camera natural” - full of expressions, ready to pose, and always up for a laugh. Maybe it helps that he just did my annual school photo day, so he was all warmed up for family pictures!

This year, we decided to try a new location for the Stones, and it couldn’t have fit them better. Between the fall light, a little wind (because of course), and three people with long hair, we laughed our way through it. There might have even been a few shots safely on the highway, because if you know me, you know I’ll do what it takes for the perfect photo!

Kyla brought along her friend Kenideigh, which made the day even more fun. We couldn’t resist sneaking in a few photos of just the two of them, just like we used to when Rylee was younger and we’d include Krissy, Kenideigh’s older sister. It’s wild how those moments come full circle. I love seeing these friendships grow through the years, captured in snapshots that show how fast life changes and how some bonds stay beautifully the same.

And to top it off, their two pups, Poppy and Callie, joined in for a few portraits, making the session even more complete.

Sessions like this remind me why I love being a Salmon Idaho Family Photographer because it’s not just about photos. It’s about seeing families (and friends!) grow, change, and come back year after year to create new memories. I’m so thankful the Stones have trusted me to capture their story for over a decade.
