Tacos, Dr. Pepper, and Vows: Chance & Stephanie Say I Do in Salmon, Idaho, Sweet Water Hollow Wedding
Chance & Stephanie's Wedding at Sweet Water Hollow in Salmon, Idaho
When a couple chooses Salmon, Idaho as their wedding destination, you know it's going to be something special. Chance and Stephanie traveled all the way from Nevada to celebrate their love in the heart of Idaho’s rugged beauty, surrounded by the mountains, river, and the people who mean the most to them. As a Salmon Idaho Wedding Photographer, I get to witness so many stories, but this one felt especially personal and sweet.
Their venue, Sweet Water Hollow, offered a warm, intimate setting for their celebration. Guests were greeted with thoughtful details that perfectly reflected Chance and Stephanie’s personalities. From a welcoming mirror display and a bold floral “C,” to cozy blankets for the evening chill, everything was intentional. A Polaroid guest book invited friends and family to capture themselves in the moment — the perfect mix of fun and nostalgia.
One of my favorite touches? A stunning black and white photo display that chronicled Chance and Stephanie’s journey together. It wasn’t just a small collection; it was a statement — rows and rows of shared moments, smiles, adventures, and milestones. As a photographer, I can’t tell you how much I loved seeing their love story told through photographs.
Their ceremony was full of heart and family. Stephanie's daughter River and her nieces walked proudly down the aisle as bridesmaids, while Chance was supported by his brothers and close friend. Before the ceremony, Chance walked down the aisle holding River’s hand, and then Canyon (Stephanie’s son) walked his mom to meet her groom. The emotion in the air was thick — a mix of excitement, tenderness, and deep love.
The couple wrote their own vows, a touch I always adore. But what made this moment even more meaningful was when Chance took a moment during the ceremony to speak directly to River and Canyon. He promised to love and care for them too. It was the kind of thing that brings tears to your eyes — heartfelt, genuine, and full of intention.
After the ceremony, the celebration kicked off with sweet desserts and joyful dancing. Their wedding cake featured adorable toppers that looked like their dogs, and instead of a traditional cake overload, they served up a spread of delicious donuts — which were an absolute hit. If you’re ever wondering if you have to do the expected with wedding desserts, take a page from Chance and Stephanie: go with what you love!
They also added a fun personal twist with a Dr. Pepper Tower — but more on that in a minute.
Another incredibly sweet part of the evening was the first dances. After Chance and Stephanie shared theirs, Stephanie had a first dance with Canyon, and Chance danced with River. These quiet, emotional moments are the kind that stay with you long after the party ends. Their new blended family was celebrated in such a beautiful way.
And speaking of celebrations — let's talk about the food! While some say tacos are reserved for Tuesdays, Chance and Stephanie broke the rules (as they should!) and brought taco joy to their Saturday wedding. Annie from The Taco Wagon catered, and it was a crowd favorite. Tacos, dancing, donuts, and personalized vows — that’s a winning wedding combination if you ask me.
Dr. Pepper Tower
Skip the champagne — bring on the Dr. Pepper. One of my favorite details from Chance and Stephanie’s day was their Dr. Pepper Tower, made up of retro-style glass bottles. It was bold, fun, and totally them. I love when couples find small but impactful ways to make their wedding feel more personal. Whether it’s your favorite soft drink, your go-to snacks, or a twist on tradition, those are the kinds of things that make your wedding feel like you.
Because at the end of the day, your wedding isn’t about checking boxes or sticking to a formula. It’s about celebrating your story, your people, your way.
