A Fun and Heartfelt Backyard Wedding in Lemhi, Idaho, Idaho Wedding Photographer

RJ and Lindsey are MARRIED!

And honestly, their backyard wedding in Lemhi, Idaho, was one of those days that had a little bit of everything I love about weddings. It was full of laughter, family, traditions, dancing and so much love.

There is just something about a backyard wedding that feels extra special to me. Maybe it is because the place already holds memories, and now one of the biggest days of your life gets added to that list. RJ and Lindsey transformed the space into the perfect place to celebrate with the people they love most and the entire day felt personal, relaxed and completely them.

Their ceremony was the perfect blend of sweet and intimate. There were heartfelt moments, plenty of smiles, and that feeling you get when you look around and realize everyone there is genuinely so excited for two people to start this next part of their lives together.

And Lindsey looked SO beautiful. Seriously.

I absolutely loved photographing her throughout the day, but their couple photos were probably one of my favorite parts. The lighting was just perfect, and we got to wander out into the field near the house for photos. Lindsey’s horse even joined us for some, which made the photos feel even more personal to her.

Of course, we also had to make sure RJ got to bring a little bit of his personality into their photos. Enter: the dirt bike.

This is one of the things I love most about being an Idaho Wedding Photographer. Weddings here are rarely cookie-cutter, and I absolutely love when couples bring pieces of their real lives into their photos. Horses, dirt bikes, fields, mountain views, I am here for all of it.

RJ also had one of the coolest suit details I have seen in a while: custom leather lapels by Sara Morelli. It was such a unique detail and another perfect example of how the small touches can make a wedding feel personal.

Their reception dinner was catered by one of my favorites, 208 Vaqueros, and it was sooooo good. Side note: If you ever see them set up somewhere, stop and get the flautas. Seriously. Do it. They are delicious.

After dinner, the real party started.

RJ and Lindsey’s dance floor was PACKED all night and they were right in the middle of it.

I always tell couples that if you want your guests to dance, YOU have to dance. People naturally follow the bride and groom, and RJ and Lindsey definitely took that advice to heart. They danced, laughed, celebrated and made sure they were actually present for their own party.

Their reception was also such a fun blend of both families and their love of music. I absolutely loved photographing all of the dancing and hearing the mix of music throughout the night, especially the Spanish music.

One of my favorite parts of the reception was getting to photograph La Víbora de la Mar, often called the snake dance or sea snake dance. It was my first time photographing this Mexican wedding tradition, and it was SO much fun.

During the tradition, guests form a long connected line,the “snake”—and move together around the reception space and beneath an arch formed by the couple. Depending on the variation, the bride and groom may stand on chairs while friends and family help keep them steady as the group moves faster and the whole thing gets more energetic and chaotic. It is one of those traditions that combines family, music, laughter, and a little bit of craziness in the best possible way.

From a photographer’s perspective? SO FUN TO PHOTOGRAPH.

There was movement everywhere. People were laughing, hanging onto one another, running through the dance floor, and completely caught up in the moment. It was such a fun tradition to experience and an even better reminder of why I love weddings that bring two families and their traditions together.

That really sums up RJ and Lindsey’s entire wedding day.

It was beautiful without feeling overly formal. It was emotional without losing the fun. It was personal, meaningful, and filled with laughter from beginning to end.

As a Salmon Idaho Photographer, I am lucky to photograph weddings throughout Lemhi County and all across Idaho, but there is always something special about weddings close to home. Getting to photograph people in places that mean something to them, surrounded by their families, their animals, their hobbies, and the traditions that matter to them, is exactly why I love what I do.

¡RJ y Lindsey SE CASARON!

Y sinceramente, su boda en el patio de su casa en Lemhi, Idaho, fue uno de esos días que tuvo un poquito de todo lo que más me encanta de las bodas. Estuvo llena de risas, familia, tradiciones, baile y muchísimo amor.

Hay algo en las bodas en casa que siempre me parece aún más especial. Tal vez es porque ese lugar ya está lleno de recuerdos, y ahora uno de los días más importantes de sus vidas también pasa a formar parte de ellos. RJ y Lindsey transformaron el espacio en el lugar perfecto para celebrar con las personas que más aman, y todo el día se sintió personal, relajado y completamente fiel a quienes son.

Su ceremonia tuvo la combinación perfecta de dulzura e intimidad. Hubo momentos llenos de emoción, muchísimas sonrisas y esa sensación que se siente cuando miras a tu alrededor y te das cuenta de que todos los presentes están verdaderamente felices de ver a dos personas comenzar esta nueva etapa de sus vidas juntos.

Y Lindsey se veía TAN hermosa. En serio.

Me encantó fotografiarla durante todo el día, pero las fotos de pareja fueron probablemente una de mis partes favoritas. La luz estaba simplemente perfecta y pudimos caminar hasta el campo cerca de la casa para hacer algunas fotos. Incluso el caballo de Lindsey se unió a nosotros en algunas de ellas, lo que hizo que esas imágenes fueran todavía más personales y especiales para ella.

Por supuesto, también teníamos que asegurarnos de que RJ pudiera incluir un poquito de su personalidad en sus fotos. Y ahí entró la moto de motocross.

Esta es una de las cosas que más me gustan de ser fotógrafa de bodas en Idaho. Las bodas aquí casi nunca son iguales a todas las demás, y me encanta cuando las parejas incorporan partes de su vida real en sus fotografías. Caballos, motos de motocross, campos, vistas de las montañas… yo estoy lista para todo eso.

RJ también tenía uno de los detalles más increíbles que he visto en un traje en mucho tiempo: solapas de cuero personalizadas hechas por Sara Morelli. Fue un detalle verdaderamente único y otro ejemplo perfecto de cómo los pequeños detalles pueden hacer que una boda se sienta mucho más personal.

La cena de la recepción estuvo a cargo de uno de mis favoritos, 208 Vaqueros, y estaba bueníííísima.

Una pequeña nota aparte: si alguna vez ven que están sirviendo comida en algún lugar, deténganse y prueben las flautas. En serio. Háganlo. Son deliciosas.

Después de la cena comenzó la verdadera fiesta.

La pista de baile de RJ y Lindsey estuvo LLENA toda la noche, y ellos estuvieron justo en medio de todo.

Siempre les digo a las parejas que, si quieren que sus invitados bailen, ELLOS también tienen que bailar. La gente naturalmente sigue a los novios, y RJ y Lindsey definitivamente se tomaron ese consejo muy en serio. Bailaron, se rieron, celebraron y se aseguraron de estar realmente presentes y disfrutar de su propia fiesta.

Su recepción también fue una combinación muy especial de ambas familias y de su amor por la música. Me encantó fotografiar todo el baile y escuchar la mezcla de música durante toda la noche, especialmente la música en español.

Una de mis partes favoritas de la recepción fue poder fotografiar La Víbora de la Mar. Era la primera vez que fotografiaba esta tradición de las bodas mexicanas, ¡y fue MUY divertida!

Durante esta tradición, los invitados forman una larga fila unidos entre sí, creando una especie de “víbora”, y se mueven juntos alrededor del espacio de la recepción y por debajo de un arco formado por los novios. Dependiendo de la forma en que se realice, los novios pueden estar de pie sobre sillas mientras sus familiares y amigos los ayudan a mantenerse firmes, mientras la fila se mueve cada vez más rápido y todo se vuelve más emocionante, divertido y un poquito caótico.

Es una de esas tradiciones que reúne a la familia, la música, las risas y un poquito de locura de la mejor manera posible.

¿Desde el punto de vista de una fotógrafa? ¡MUY DIVERTIDA DE FOTOGRAFIAR!

Había movimiento por todas partes. La gente se reía, se sujetaba unos a otros, corría por la pista de baile y estaba completamente viviendo el momento. Fue una tradición increíblemente divertida de presenciar y, además, un hermoso recordatorio de por qué me encantan las bodas que unen no solo a dos personas, sino también a dos familias y las tradiciones que son importantes para ellas.

Y eso realmente resume todo el día de la boda de RJ y Lindsey.

Fue hermosa sin sentirse demasiado formal. Fue emotiva sin perder toda la diversión. Fue personal, significativa y estuvo llena de risas de principio a fin.

Como fotógrafa de Salmon, Idaho, tengo la suerte de fotografiar bodas por todo el condado de Lemhi y en diferentes lugares de Idaho, pero siempre hay algo especialmente significativo en las bodas cerca de casa.

Poder fotografiar a las personas en lugares que tienen un significado especial para ellas, rodeadas de sus familias, sus animales, sus pasatiempos y las tradiciones que realmente importan en sus vidas, es exactamente la razón por la que amo tanto lo que hago.
