I had the pleasure of traveling to the charming town of May, Idaho, to meet the Morgan family for a heartwarming photography session.

One of my favorite things about being a photographer is the opportunity to capture families right in their own spaces. There’s something undeniably special about creating memories in the comfort of your own home or on your property. It adds a layer of intimacy and authenticity to the photos. If you have the chance to do this, why not take it? The Morgan family’s session was a perfect example of how meaningful these moments can be.

The Morgans are currently in the midst of building their new home—an exciting yet undoubtedly busy time. As life often has its surprises, their twins decided to arrive early amidst all the hustle and bustle. Isn’t that just the way things work sometimes?

WELCOME TO THE WORLD, Valerie and Baxter!

Casey, the mom of this beautiful family, reached out to me with the idea of a family session that also incorporated some "newborn" photos. Now, if you know me, you’re probably aware that traditional, posed newborn photography isn’t my specialty. I’ve tried it in the past and quickly realized it’s just not my style. However, what I do love is capturing those precious moments in a more natural and lifestyle-oriented way.

For the Morgans, this approach was the perfect fit. Their session was all about celebrating their growing family in a relaxed and genuine setting. We found a wonderful balance between family portraits and those sweet newborn details that every parent cherishes. There were no elaborate props or stiff poses—just love, laughter, and connection in their own home.

Valerie and Baxter were absolute stars during the session, and their big brother Mack was an incredible helper. Mack’s energy and sweetness shone through in every shot as he proudly took on the role of big brother. He even showed his baby siblings how it’s done in front of the camera, and I couldn’t get enough of his heartwarming interactions with them.

We began the session indoors, capturing cozy moments with the family. As the day unfolded, we ventured outside to soak in the beautiful surroundings before returning indoors for more photos. May, Idaho, provided a breathtaking backdrop for the session with its serene landscapes and peaceful charm.

Casey looked absolutely radiant, her beauty shining effortlessly through each photo. She rocked a stylish jacket that added a touch of elegance to the session. Cody, her husband, complemented her perfectly with his dapper cowboy hat, embodying the rugged charm of the Idaho countryside.

As a photographer, I’ve been trying to remind myself to take more landscape photos during sessions. Too often, I’m so focused on the families that I forget to capture the stunning scenery that surrounds us. On my drive home from May, I made it a point to pull over and snap some photos of the breathtaking landscapes. Idaho never fails to amaze me with its natural beauty, and I’m thrilled to share some of my favorite shots from the journey.
