Bridger, Megan & Baby Baker – A Family Session to Remember

There’s something incredibly special about documenting a young family’s story, especially in these early years of parenthood. Bridger, Megan, and their sweet baby boy Baker joined me for a family session that reminded me why I love what I do so much capturing the tiny moments that tell the bigger story of love, growth, and togetherness.

From the start, little Baker was an absolute gem. His bright eyes, easy smile, and curious nature made photographing him such a joy. Babies at this age are full of wonder, everything is new and fascinating, from blades of grass to their parents' laughter. That innocence and pure delight radiated in every frame.

We initially planned to shoot at one of my favorite locations in the Salmon, but Mother Nature had other plans. The wind picked up quickly, and with dark clouds rolling in, we made a split-second decision to relocate. We drove just ahead of the storm to a new spot, and it ended up working out perfectly. Sometimes the best sessions come from a little unpredictability, and this one reminded me that adaptability is key, not just in photography, but in parenthood, too.

Thanks to Megan’s sister, who came along to help, we had an extra set of hands to get Baker’s attention and keep those genuine smiles coming. She was the MVP behind the scenes—singing, making silly faces, and doing whatever it took to keep Baker giggling. These little details matter so much during a session with babies, and it truly takes a team effort.

Baker smiled, played, explored, and even tried a bite of grass (as babies do!). He was loved on by both his parents the entire time, smothered in kisses and snuggles, and I could feel the love this family shares radiating in every photo. These are the kinds of moments that only last for a season, but with photos, they can live on forever.

As a family photographer based in Salmon, Idaho, I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to document your family often. Babies grow so quickly. One moment they’re sitting in your arms, barely able to hold their heads up, and the next they’re chasing butterflies, starting school, and towering over you at high school graduation.
