Senior Bucket List Goals: Scenic Senior Photos in Salmon, Idaho

When you’re checking things off your senior year bucket list, why not add a once-in-a-lifetime photo session in the mountains of Idaho?

Rylei flew all the way from Delaware to attend a family wedding at Williams Lake Resort—and she wasn’t going to miss the chance to grab some unforgettable senior photos while she was here. As an Idaho Senior Photographer, I love when seniors from out of state want something different than their usual backdrops. Rylei knew she wanted views, and Salmon, Idaho absolutely delivered.

We started her session right at Williams Lake Resort. With the wide-open view of the lake surrounded by pine-covered peaks, it’s an incredible setting for portraits. It was the perfect way to kick off our adventure and gave Rylei those sweeping landscapes she’d been dreaming of. As a Salmon Idaho Photographer, I always want to give my clients something unique and meaningful. Rylei didn’t just want pretty pictures; she wanted a full experience and I was here for it.

Even though it was late June, Idaho surprised us with a little winter storm! But in true mountain fashion, the weather changed just enough to give us some amazing skies and soft light. We made our way down the mountain toward town, stopping along the way at a few of my favorite spots before hitting the iconic Salmon River.

One of the things I love most about photographing seniors, especially those from out of state, is showing off the beauty of this place I’m so lucky to call home. Rylei had her grandparents, mom, and sister along for the ride, so it was a memory for the whole family. When someone says they want “all the views,” there’s only one place to go: the cliffs. The overlook never disappoints. Standing up there, wind in your hair, with the whole valley laid out behind you, it’s magic. I was so happy we were able to get Rylei up there for some epic shots.

Senior photo sessions aren’t just about the pictures, they’re about the experience. These sessions are full of laughter, little adventures, and beautiful in-between moments. Whether you’re from Idaho or visiting from across the country, your senior session should feel like a celebration. For Rylei, getting her photos taken nearly 2,500 miles from home made her session feel that much more special.

Of course, no Idaho senior session is complete without some shots in the river! Despite the chilly temps, Rylei was a total champ and stepped right in. That kind of brave energy makes for the best photos, full of personality, a little grit, and so much fun. Anything for the shot, right?
