There’s something incredibly special about photographing families I’ve known for years. The Koerner crew hasn’t been in front of my camera for quite some time, long enough that little Dutton wasn’t even born the last time we did photos together. So, needless to say, this session was long overdue… and so worth the wait.
This year, Bre took the opportunity to bring her entire family together for an extended session. With her brother in town and the whole crew able to gather, it was the perfect time to capture a rare full-family moment. When adult children come home—even briefly—it becomes a little window in time you don’t want to miss. These are the days that become core memories, the kind that live on in frames and albums for decades.
We met in one of my favorite tucked-away spots near Salmon, Idaho. The soft light, tall grass, and surrounding hills provided the perfect natural backdrop for this easygoing, joy-filled session. The best part? Watching everyone settle into the moment. No stress, no forced poses, just genuine connection.
The kids, as always, brought their own spark. Huxley and Charlie ended the evening with full hearts and dirty feet, chasing each other up and down the hillside like it was their own personal playground. That’s what I love most about sessions like this, when they turn into memory-making rather than just picture-taking.
Whether it's the look between grandparents and grandbabies, the way siblings laugh at old jokes, or the kids running free while the sun dips behind the mountains, it all matters. These are the images that will tell your family's story for years to come.
