I get to meet some of the sweetest people through my photography, families who laugh together, kids who run wild with joy, and those unforgettable moments that remind me how lucky I am to do what I do. Sometimes I get to travel to them, but more often, it's people who find their way to my little corner of the world and want to experience Idaho… and more specifically, Visit Salmon, Idaho.
That’s how I met the Robins family.
They came to Salmon from different places, all meeting up to spend quality time together in one of Idaho’s most beautiful hidden gems. Lori, the mom and grandma of the crew, reached out ahead of their trip because she knew she wanted to take advantage of having everyone together. She wanted a session to capture this season of life, these memories, and all the love between them. That’s where I got to come in with Bellanet Photography and my camera in hand.
From the moment I met them, I could tell this family was something special. Kind, gentle, laid-back… just genuinely lovely people. Some extended family sessions are a whirlwind (beautiful chaos, but still chaotic!), but the Robins family? They trickled in quietly, in small groups. It made for a calm, easygoing rhythm, letting us photograph groupings and moments as they arrived, without feeling rushed or posed.
And when I say you could feel the love between them, I mean it. There was this warmth between them that radiated. The kind of love that only comes from years of shared memories, inside jokes, life’s hard lessons, and a deep appreciation for being together. You could sense their excitement, not just about the photos, but about being in each other’s presence.
We were blessed with a beautiful, golden summer morning here in Salmon to kick off their visit. The kind of light that makes everything glow and gives your photos that extra little sparkle.
Salmon, Idaho is one of those places that seems to slow time down. It's a hidden treasure nestled between rugged mountains and the Salmon River. When families come here to reconnect, it feels like everything just clicks into place. Whether you’re floating the river, touring the Sacajawea Interpretive Center, hiking up to Goldbug Hot Springs, or grabbing breakfast at a Odd Fellows Bakery, there’s a peacefulness here you don’t find just anywhere.
As an Idaho Family Photographer, it brings me so much joy to not only photograph families like the Robins, but also to show off this beautiful place I get to call home. And as a Salmon Idaho Family Photographer, I love sessions like this where people are not just visiting—they’re making memories they’ll talk about for years.
Thank you to the Robins family for letting me be a small part of your time in Salmon. I hope when you look back at these photos, you remember the sunshine, the love, and the laughter that filled that Idaho morning.
