Is getting together outfits stress you out?

You are not alone.

Every single mom books a session and then thinks, "what are we going to wear?"

I get it all the time.

I put together six things to remember when styling your family session.

These are simple steps to help you in putting together your outfits no matter what season!

Here are six short things to remember when styling your family session

1. Wear simple, timeless clothing

Trends are fun, really they are, but skip the trend for family photos. Hear me out, don't show up with everyone in the same exact shirt or with a . . shall I say . . a theme. These are trends and the things trends is they don't last. When we are taking your family portraits these are going to be photos to last for generations to come.

2. Mix patterns and solid colors

Don't be afraid to mix patterns and solids colors based on your chosen color scheme. Plaids and solids, different patterns and textures can all compliment each other. The best way to see is by setting it out in front of yourself and see how they blend together and balance. Still in doubt? Send me a photo! I love to clients' outfits and while give you some honest feedback.

3. Add layers for pops of color

Add a layer, add a color. Experiment and add a pop of color with an undershirt, a sweater or even a little bow or tie. Your layers can even be accessories with necklaces and hats. But try not to go too big on hats, they tend to cast an extra shadow on your face.

4. Coordinate, but not match exactly

Coordination is key but don't over-coordinate. Like I said don't all show in the same outfit. Coordinate with your color scheme and some in a shirt and some in pants etc. There is a balance. Don't let everyone

5. Avoid big logos and graphics

This may go hand in hand with don't follow trends but don't show up with a giant logo or character on your shirt or your kids'. I get it, he really likes that Paw Patrol shirt with Chase on it but in one year or even a month you will regret having him wear it. This goes with giant sports logos, it's distracting and we are there for you and your beautiful faces not to advertise a random company.

6. Feel comfortable and pretty

This is the most important - feel comfortable. Start with your outfit and and work from there. It is crucial you feel comfortable so you are more relaxed during the session but I want you to feel pretty, so don't be too comfortable.

Things to not bring to the session: CELL PHONES • SUNGLASSES • CAR KEYS
I don't want these in your pockets.
